Hmm ... slipping backwards should be impossible at least as far as I understand scoring.

I could see it happening if the victory condition is different in each case so that the score multiplier is different but as far as I know the two games should have identical scores up to the point where one ended and the other didn't. For the score to actually decline it would require that the additional time was actually worth negative points which would require that one or all of the 4 components of score (income, pop, military and tech spending) would have to go below zero and that's not possible unless there is some kind of overflow condition where a sufficiently positive value is somehow taken as a negative.

So to answer your question I've never experienced this nor have I ever heard of it occuring, perhaps this is unique to the version of the game that you're playing? With such a small difference in scores perhaps it's just that you're at the point where you get very few points for that extra year and you ended the longer game just a little bit differently (in what way I'm not sure) that resulted in fewer points on the turn that you actually won. This would result in the score apparently declining.

It should be, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is.  There is at least one explanation of scoring that would account for it, but it's still odd.

Sorry, but this is for games actually played.  Playing a game and then hex editing the score isn't really playing the game.  Such efforts will not be recognized as a valid game.

Btw, What IS the current "maximum" reached by anyone within a year?

Actually, my 198450 game posted in the ZYW thread has yet to be beat.

Please be very judicious on who you send saved games to.  I'd say the two you were offering it to would be ok, but understand that your saved metaverse game contains some of your login information such as your login name, character being played and most importantly, your game's serial number.

BTW, huge congratulations on that 198,450 score for a ZYW....that passed without much fanfare but trumpets should have been blown, confetti should have been thrown and we all should have known that you would crash through the ceiling on those just like you did on the long games. When are you going to take your rightful place as the top predator in the MV? I feel like a fraud sitting on your number one spot....I've been keeping it warm for you though.
